“I dream of an Africa which is in peace with itself.”
~ Nelson Mandela
These are the great words of the late Nelson Mandela. He has always inspired me to do more, dream more, become more like a leader should. He has and will always be my true hero. I, like Mandela, abhors racism. He once said, “I detest racialism, because I regard it as a barbaric thing, whether it comes from a black man or a white man. I too dream about a day where Africa is peaceful, there are no people starving, no people in pain, no people’s life ruined by STD’s and diseases. But for this to happen the world would have to be perfect. So all I can do is pray. Pray for a better AFrica, and I know just like Mandela that that day will come.
“I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.” ~ Nelson Mandela
Mandela’s quotes inspire me and they have an important impact in my life. I’ve been living on his words, and trying to build a better life with their meanings. This quote states that to have courage doesn't mean you are fearless, to have courage means to overcome that fear and celebrate over it. I have been conquering my fears to build a stronger part of myself. I know if I don’t overcome my fears, I’ll never get over them. It’s better to do what makes you scared then its over than to live a life full of things that frighten you without ever knowing you could have overcome it.
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. “ ~ Nelson Mandela
I think this is one of the most powerful and truthful quotes Mandela has said. Education is an enlightening experience. To have an education is a privilege that most people in peripheral areas dream of having. It is true that with a good education, you can succeed in anything you please. Just because you haven’t done it, doesn't mean you can’t do it. You understand others to be understood. Part of being successful isn’t from school education, but is from the knowledge you were brought up knowing about the world, its people, about you, and what you can accomplish. Without education, money means nothing. Education is a powerful method, and those successful people like Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, etc got to where they were because what what they knew and what they believed in.
“Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.” ~ Marilyn Monroe
Being a girl, my mother brought me up in a lifestyle full of manners and ladylike behaviors. When I was younger, I thought girls had to be perfect for boys to accept them, I thought you had to contain yourself for people to see you are a lady ( speaking from a ten year old’s perspective), and if people thought you were funny, then that meant you were odd and weird. After this quote and after the years of books and novels filled with quotes like Marilyn's, I couldn’t be happier to accept who I am. Everybody is beautiful in their own way; Every girl is pretty, but it just takes the right people, the right guy to see it. Perfection doesn't exist in a human, so no one has the right to judge someone by their flaws. Being flawed is beautiful in the eyes of many, being crazy can lead to genius creations, and being funny and ridiculous is better than being boring and dull.
